    What gauge wire?

My tail light wiring harness has more cuts and repairs than an Emo kid. I want to rewire but I'm unsure if I have to use a specific gauge. I have 14 gauge stranded but was thinking that might be too much. 12 gauge maybe? Can too large a gauge effect current flow?

If 14 is too much, why would you go to 12? Smaller guage is bigger wire.

Oversized wire isnt a bad thing, but it is a bit of a waste. I tend to use 14 on incadesent bulbs and 18 on LED. Which is larger than what usually comes from the manufacturers. Most of them seem to be 16 on incadesent and 20 or 22 on LEd.

16 gauge will work fine for your tailight set up.

I use 16 for everything but charging system, which I use 12 for.
