Trying to find a motor for my project....I want a Shovel, but had an interesting email offering me an Ironhead for $500.
He said he bought it as a roller, and didnt want the motor, but that the motor had over $2000 worth of work done before he bought it. I asked what had been done and he sent me some pics....Has me even more confused. It has an open belt primary, a split rear rocker box and a finned front, and he said he was told its a 1200. Internet seems to be on both sides of the fence about if its even doable, I've read about kits, but should I just run away from this thing since I cant hear it run, and have no confirmation on the specs? Or for the money is it worth the gamble?
I was think if I really want to I could always buck the trans off and run a 6 in 4 speed kick case behind it, but the posts I've seen that admit that a 1200 ironhead exists say they run like a raped ape, and it could be fun.........
