does the oil tank for a sportster have to be vented at the cap? thank you

No....
The oil tank doesn't need to be vented at all..
It's vented to the motor... If you did away with that vent oil line, then there would be a need to vent the tank...
By having the tank vented to the motor keeps it a closed system... meaning in a event that the bike is laid down, no oil would escape.Last edited by Dragstews; 10-02-2014, 3:54 PM.Take my 45 and outrun em all .. -
