2002 Sporty Wiring
Whats up guy, i am in need of some help on the wiring on my bike. Its 02 sporty 1200 custom from CA. So it has something called a "trap door" system on it (got it from the wiring diagram) that is tied into the ignition system. Also it as a "bank angle sensor" that I'm guessing will kill the bike if you lay it down. Obviously I'm redoing the wire harness as apart of my build, question is can and how do i cut this crap out. I only want the stuff i have to have so the less wires the better.
Any help would be awesome, i can't run the bike till its wired up.

im not too sure about the trap door system but you can just run the wire for your bank angle sensor to ground.
Id like to know if anyone else knows about this "trap door" system.. what do you guys know about it..

can you post a pic of the wiring diagram you are looking at.. highlight the "trap door" section

That post has a lot of good info, however I've gotten ride of all the unnecessary stuff already. I just don't know anything about the trap door thing. Like i said its only on the CA models, and i was not sure if i could get rid of it or not. I haven't see it before so… as far as the bank angle sensor… just cut it off... and ground what?

ground the wire coming from your ignition module that would normally go to the bank angle sensor.. as far as the Trap Door solenoid, im not 100 % yet.. ill get back to you when i figure it out.

What ignition mod are you using,... the one under the cover on the camchest or the bigger module.??
the wire for the bank sensor should be green and you may have to ground the grey wire with it depending on witch mod u have

Ok so the trap door solenoid is on the air cleaner for the CA version of the bike.. This allowed a little more air in when the bike was being started for emission reasons.. Any ways to your question.. Get ride of it you don't need it. I would suggest removing the complete wiring harness and starting from scratch.. It will be less confusing that way..

Throw away all the wiring and start from scratch. It's much easier.
