    Default Sportster top end Clatter!

    Hey CC,

    so I just finished putting together a 2001 sporty chop together and when engine and oil gets HOT I start to get some clatter at the top of the motor. I have take the covers off and I am getting oil to the top of the motor. anyone have this issue? or know what I need to do to fix this issue?

    What type of oil are you running in it?
    May need to go thicker

    mine is a sewing machine too and they say thats normal. an actual knock is probably a collapsed or worn lifter. evo sporty motors are apparently self adjusting, though i havent had one apart before. a friend did cams on his and i was looking at it, the pushrods were adjustable but he said they are just a simple in/out to get them in, and are not used to adjust valve lash...... hydraulic lifters=self adjusting. however, if your bike sat a long time, one might have lost its prime and collapsed
