    Default Another XS650 thread

I found my next project. It's a 1983 Yamaha XS 650 heritage special. Super clean and garage kept. I even has the original bill of sale and extra brake/clutch lever they gave to owner upon delivery. I snagged it for cheap.
It hasn't run in 5 years but nothing a good carb cleaning and a fresh battery won't take care of.
The question is, which way do I go with it? Cafe, Brat, Chop, Street tracker?
It has a Kerker 2 into 1 on it already.
    This isn't the actual bike

What kind of riding do you dig on? if you like laying on a tank racer, if you like laying back in the seat pan chop, if you like dogging it around town tracker, if you like dogging it around town and being a rude boy too brat.

I actually don't intend on keeping the bike after it's done. I'm leaning towards chopping it with a TCBros hardtail, 14" apes, a set of 8" over tubes, trailer rear fender, Mustang tank, king and queen seat and a whole lot of stripping it down to bare nothing for electricals.
I think I need to pull the seat off it and stare at it for a while and see what strikes me.

Never a good thing to find when you're rehabbing a bike. JB weld snot all over the float support. Waiting on a pair of empty carb bodies

I think I've pretty much decided to chop it. It's been a long time since I've built something light a wicked. A TC brothers hardtail is in the near future as soon as I get it running right.
This is the style I'm going for.

I ended up buying 2 carb bodies for it. I only needed 1 but they were a deal $64 for both delivered. They were as clean as the day they rolled our of the Mikuni factory. After I rebuilt the carbs, I charged the battery, changed the oil and it started like it was waking up from a long nap.

I ended up going a little different direction on it. I decided to build a street tracker.
