    1971 CB 450 Chop

    Hi,

I recently exchanged a carton of beer for this "rolling frame" or perhaps better described; rotting corpse of a mongrel 1971 CB450 + various earlier-model parts...

It's a somewhat ambitious venture, but I look forward to the challenge of sourcing parts and turning this thing into the most stupid chopper thing ever.

Got some 6" oversized forks from the eBay the other day and wacked them in, just to see what it looks like.

Needless to say, the cunt didn't fit.

Anyone got a lead on a tree that will fit?

Also, are you allowed to swear on this forum? I just used fuck and cunt in the same post.

My 72 CB500 top tree was cracked and I couldn't find one for shit. Another member had posted that the later CB550 clamps would work so I gave it a shot. There are a lot more of the 550 clamps floating around and it fit mine perfectly. Not sure if it will fit the 450 but it's something to look into.

          Thanks!

I'll get on that right away. Apparently there's very little difference between CB500s & 450s so I'm willing to try that!

Here's a screen shot of a post I had seen a while back with a list of interchangeable parts.

Yesterday I lucked into locating an engine and after some negotiation the owner decided to sell it to me. Its in pieces and he assures me its mostly all be there. I'll have to go through it thoroughly and see.
Either way I'm stoked, as without an engine, this would have quickly become one of those "I'll finish it one day" projects, but now there's very little in the way for this project.

                    That'd be great!!

I'm in Australia though, is that cool? Obviously I'll pay more for shipping.

there is a chart floating around the internet somewhere that shows all the stem and fork sizes for every bike that has been made so far. Just glance through it and find something that fits or something that you can make fit with new bearings.

Given then age i think it might fall into the UJM bikes but im not certain.

Hey man, there's another guy willing to sell me his 750 clamp, but if that falls through I'm keen to buy yours. As for the forks, as far as I know they are 6 overs made for a cb450 as that's what they were listed on eBay as and its written on them in marker.
