Awesome write up. I couldn't find a pair of brown gloves in my size so I bought white ones and some leather dye and waxed thread from michael's. First time ever stitching anything but it came out pretty good I think, I didn't realize how much the mink oil would darken them so they are a little darker than I was hoping but I'm still happy with the result.

Wow that's a lot darker than my brown ones got. That was all mink oil, did it have any kind of pigment in it?

I used some brown leather dye before the mink oil which actually darkened them quite a bit on its own.

Tried my hand at making some of these tonight, took a slightly different route with the seam, but holy shit this was so fucking easy and so fucking awesome!

Made myself some gloves. Got a $10 pair of Stanley deerskin work gloves. Cut about an inch or so off the bottom, stitched the seam with hemp rope and then oiled with kiwi conditioning oil. Stitching leather with such a thick material was a pain in the ass, took like an hour for each glove. Turned out pretty good, very comfortable gloves.

When I did mine I made the fold and then laid out the holes with a soldering gun that had a sharp tip. Stitched it with dental floss, took about 10 minutes/glove.......over a year now and they've held up great.

Ive done about 6 pairs now with different colors. The greyish ones have actually become my favorites.

                            After much trial and error...

I made these after seeing this thread a while ago. The brown ones are cowhide and the black ones are pigskin.

I largely followed the OP's instructions, but used waxed thread and added Sno-Seal instead of mink oil. Very sticky residue at first but that fades over time and use. Keeps your hands dry in the rain and costs less than buying pre-made. Gave a pair of the cowhide ones to my brother to use for his amateur blacksmithing hobby and he loves 'em.

Here's my take. Did not quite follow OPs tutorial but ended up with some bitchin gloves!

Thought I'd give this a shot too!

I didn't follow the original posters exact instructions but used the general idea. Have yet to test them in rain but as a nice day glove they are bitchin'!! Will be making more I'm sure!

Thanks to everyone who's posted in this thread for fuelling my ideas!! See ya out there!
