Thread: Bottle o Vodka

    Default Bottle o Vodka

So I bought a 79 kz400 with all the paperwork and the keys for a bottle of vodka(I shit you not). Although now it seems like it may have actually been worth that price. Bike was underwater, so everything electrical has gotta go! Picking up a second engine to try and some what frankenstein a running one together. Taking a rat cafe route with this one, I don't think a bobber look would suit it, keeping the tail plastics, and fenders. Probably doing away with the electric start. Also going to figure out some way to chop down the overall height of the bike for a more stream-lined look to it..
What it looked like when I first saw it, genuine bag o shit

    Getting there

Everything seems almost minty, damn shame it seems seized..

A $40 bottle of smirnoff. I drink with the guy on a regula basis. Its been sitting in his back yard since sandy.. I want him to part ways with his 1950's czech bike as well... But no luck. Hes in his 70, oldschool german mechanic that still builds some weird shit.

    I like these little kz400s!

Here is mine! They can be cool bikes.

    Nice score!

There is a forum and web site for them to get the manuals too!

You should see some of the ones they have brought back to life at that forum they are experts there in rebuilding them.

I have not gone over with all there because they can be purist but they allow me there. Many cafe and bob them there too. Good to have experts on rebuilding antiques like these.

Z1 enterprizes carry a lot of the parts and gaskets for the motor too.

Not even 5 minutes into reading, already know more than I did last week, gotta find a set of cb500 carbs. Kz400 carbs are pricey af, even if they're shot..

Cant get the damn head off at the moment, pulled the tensioner, even unbolted the cam, but still can't get the damn chain off to pull the cam and the head... Might just cut the timing chain since the bottom end is frozen, then buy a new chain. Its all gotta come apart anyways :P
