Added a detail panel to the gas tank. The gas cap will be installed in the panel. I have to pressure test the tank before I install the gas cap. Gas tank was fabbed from 18 ga.

7/8" with the shims and I believe 1" without the shims. But I've never tried 1" bars before.

I didn't make the cut. Thanks to everyone for the votes and support. I will still be updating and posting pics. We are also still planning to go to Born Free. Thanks again.

Sad you didn't make it, your build is very interesting.
But competition isn't the more important in the end, please keep us posted on your progress.
                  Good luck

Fitting the pieces for the springer top clamp. I had the flat pieces water jetted. Turned the sleeves on the lathe. I will start working on the lower tree next. The design will be traditional styling with a few twists and turns.

Been busy grinding, grinding and grinding some more. I cut and shaped slugs from 2X1" stock for the lower leg to upper leg transition. Sorry I thought i had a pic of the slug. Anyway the sleeve is stainless steel. I am not going to baloney cut the bottom half like most springers. I have the bottom trees about half way done. Realized I should assemble the rear legs for fit before final assembly on the trees. More to come on the lower tree and the lower dropouts on the rear legs.

Finally getting somewhere with lower tree. Still need some fitting before I install the upper and lower plates. Stem is just for mock-up. I will turn a 4130 stem to fit.
