VintageChop 47 knucklehead rebuild
so im rebuilding my knuck. i brought this in from the states last year. got it from a friend. needed odds n sods but basically all there n sound. well i ran it last year in rattle can paint and rust. looked good from a few paces but needed just making as i want, so its time to make it look pretty and sort the few niggles
here it is as i kind of ended up by the end of this summer [bit of styling changes / mechanical fixes as they year went by]
so complete strip n sort - a good day makes for a pull down, bits of frame repairs n cutting off of anything non stock
then on to the motor... the hunt for the missing compression [lowest compression thing i ever had but it starts good and runs well so i may regret this ha]
50 thou over, but both bores and pistons look nice
and a 33 thou ring gap.. [might have a compression culprit here, well at least some of it] need to find some +50 JCC rings from somewhere now
the extent of my chrome ha... not a big chrome lover
so thats this weeks work so far. everythings gone off for powder, ive got customer jobs i need to get out before xmas to do for a few days then ill get back onto it next week.

4 day turn round from my powder coater. well happy all the bike is powder including tins, no paint budget this time round. just waiting on chrome now. but starting re-assemble. theres a little sparkle in the pink so itll pop in the sunshine
going for art deco colour pallet. not to most peoples taste i understand but thats fine by me.

Hell, this is mellow compared to that green Honda you rode in Mexico or that Sportster with the huge tires. Weird as hell, but I dig it.

I have to hand it to you. I would have rocked the shit out of it the way it was....happily! But the way you are building it well my balls just aren't big enough to ride that.

il carry on here for a bit.
things coming together except that my chrome plater lost my rear drum so im stuck... bugger
its coming together now, starting to look like my bike. got my bars on [they are a set of the belly bars i make here at vintagechop with a little added bar]. im also getting onto sorting the box lid. i lost it somewhere between home and Cornwall last year. so started from scratch making it up out of glass. nearly there. more filler and then paint and im good again.

I'm lucky enough to be really busy at the workshop. But my knuck rebuild is getting neglected. I'm even more lucky that dad's offered to finish the motor off while I work on paying jobs. it was saturday so i split the work with dad yesterday morning. We got the top end all done. And primary nearly there too. Feels good to own a knuck again not a pile of parts.
and i got my seat back the other week too. white n leopard looks classy
