Default TECH: Install a Stereo in your Biltwell Lid

First things first, go to Wal-mart or some other similarly huge store with an electronics department and pick up the following items:

    • Slim clip over the ear style headphones
    • Headphone extension cord
    • Tape
    • Some kind of tacky adhesive
    • Beer

It would also help if you had a Biltwell helmet or something close to it... genius.

    Headphones I used:

    Extension:

    1. Pour yourself a frosty beverage. You've earned it.

    2. get out the headphones. The ones I purchased were like nine bucks and had a ear hook that rotated around which made it really easy to get them oriented the way I wanted them to be.

    3. Unsnap and pull the ear pads out of your helmet.

    4. Shove headphones through slots where the straps go through. (Don't worry they'll fit)

    5. Tape the hook part of the headphones down to the back of the ear pad.

    6. (optional) I then put some sticky adhesive on the back side of the headphone to keep it from wiggling around on the inside of the ear hole.

    Default Continued...

    7. Repeat for the other side.

    8. Snap the pads back into the helmet and cram the headphone wires up behind the lining of the helmet allowing the stereo jack to hang out wherever you'd like.

    9. Plug the extension into your media player.

    10. Hook the extension up to your helmet.

    11. Put on some Pantera and Jam son... Jam.

proper....i remember having a headphone set up that had a mute button on the wire...so instead of having to reach all the way in your pocket if you wanted to shut off the music really quick to hear something/take a break from music you could just use the wire controls. thatd be a nice little upgrade too

something sort of like this but mine was simpler and smaller

What? Yours didn't come like that?

Also, you can get extensions with volume control and all that but I'm a cheap bastard and that cuts into my drinkin' money.

I know someone who shoulda done this about 7 months ago.

Equation as follows : Earbuds not in your ears + leaning over to put the kickstand down before you shut the bike off = no mo earbuds and one pissed off individual.

We've seen what open primary's can do to many things, they like earbuds too.

Someone should foreward this thread to Wendy...............................

When I wore a full face on my old sport bike I used a sungle earbud and mounted a cheapy MP3 player on my "dash" with a USB power adaptor/ voltage regulator that I built. I ran the headphone extension cable under the fairing and it stuck up in front of the seat. Then I attache my ear buds that ran inside my jacket.

When I mow the grass, I wear a pair of shooting ear muffs and I took the same Panasonic headphones and stuck them in the muffs. The muffs help to block the sound of the mower so I don't have to crank up the music as much to hear it. Probably looks goofy, but I don't really care.

Picked up a pair of the Slims to do install in my helmet. Anyone found an iPhone in-line controller that let's you skip or pause tracks? I've been looking around but can't find one.
