Sort of Sportster
hello , i am new here , and i just bought a 89 sportster , it`s a hood solid low miles bike , but it is all original and i hate original , i hate new , i hate stuff with chrome bought in a shop ready to bolt on
so here is my stuff
this is when i first bought the thing
this is just to get an idea withe a nice old gastank from a mobylette
this is my home fabricated fender struts
this is with the shocks relocated , and it is already getting nice and low
this is my headlight , it`s a copper thing from a 30`s wolsley ,
tha plan is to get the bike low , pait it with green and copper flakes , and i am going to copper and nickel plate a lot of parts , already got all the stuff at home to do this , we will wee how it goes .
i also have a xs 650 but i will put that in another post

It had some big ol air bags. Cool take on the fender strut. What is the extra piece sticking straight back down by the lower mount in the second to last pic?...and do you want to sell the maroon tank?

the air shocks are way to stiff , they are for the suspension of a truck cabin , the piece sticking back is for the tail light .
i an not going to use the tank anymore so i am willing to sell it , however i live in the netherlands so the shipping will be a bitch

time for an update , last week i started with the copperplating , and as i expected : nothing worked ,
i tried all kind of acids and materials , but the iron parts did not accept the copper , in the mean time i was getting kind of mad about the whole thing until i read somewhere that steel does not accept copper , it must me nickel plated first , so i did that , nickel plating went great , and then the copper
bloody bloody shit , it did nothing , well , it did something , it removed the nickel .
back to nothing again ,
and then the light came to me , when the stuff is in the acid solution both the copperpipe and my part both started to bubble , that means that they both have current on themwhat i need is DC and i used AC , tried it with a simple battery and VICTORY !! there was copper
here a few pics
20 liters of battery acid , nice !!
everything together in a bucket
and nothing happend
and then with the battery
to be continued , i hope
