XLCH 1967 Sportster - 33.4mm Fork tube damper spare parts nightmare

    Hello,

The fork tube dampers on my 67 XL need replacement. One is bent, the other scratchy.
I learned the hard way that my sportster millesime is the last from K series. So cool, it's rare and the fork is correct. And skinny. Ok !

NOW how can I find for damper replacement ?

There is a newer one on http://www.debrix.com/33-4mm-Steel-L...24-0454-vt.htm but I don't see where the long fork spring and axle will go.
It's supposed to fit pre 1967 forks by drilling the bottom hole bigger. And that's it ?

Narrowend FX's 1971 & 1972 also share those forks but I can't even find a set of used damper tubes which is still the simplest solution.

Any advice or potential used parts sources in US or EU are welcome

    Thib

yup, those are hard to come by. Maybe a used parts dealer can locate them for you.

Ok, I ended up turning the damper on a lathe to straighten it. Now it slides in the tube properly without play.

When a set come by I'll take them but in the meantime I'll be able to ride.

If someone knows a guy who knows a guy selling those things.. please let me know

Can you make yourself a better set on the lathe?

More work but less money if you have free use of the lathe.

It would be great if I could but I'm not good enough to reproduce it :/
