Lowbrow Customs - Four Aces Cycle DVD review - Help Wanted
I would be more than happy to review any of the three dvd's. An Ironhead is my next project and I am helping a good friend with a 74 Shovel with a 4 speed and we're going to have to go through both. Thanks for the opportunity!
I bought the Shovelhead video and would be glad to throw 500 words down. I liked the video a lot and found it to be good for an introduction to the basic maintenance on a Shovelhead.
If you want to send me the tranny vid too I'd be glad to speak to its virtues as well.
Let me know if you want a review without the video and/or an additional review on the transmission video.
I would be happy to review the Ironhead DIY Video Workshop Manual by Frank Kaiser. I can easily describe how this DVD promotes a better understanding of the Ironhead engine, how it explains ideas on tuning for increased performance, and how Franks ideas on service intervals and procedures can improve reliability.
Having owned and worked on a 72 Ironhead to the point of furious anger and frustration for a good ten years, I recently decided to go the way of reliability. After the purchase of a 65/66 pan/shovel stroker with a four speed, I’m left to question whether this decision was made in good confidence. My daily standard of living, albeit low, is secured via the repair of late model v-twins, but the greasy machines of yesteryears are where my interests actually lie. As for the choice, Iron, Shovel, or Four Speed, I find myself somewhat lost, but my leanings are towards the four speed (since mine sounds like a worn out tractor with steel wheels on a concrete road and the inside might as well be a map of a foreign country). If deemed worthy, I would be honored to write up a four speed review, but if previously claimed, either of the others would be an interesting examination and a window to some much needed information. I officially throw my hat in the pile.
