03 FLHPI that I'm slowly getting to look more like an early flh. Still have a long way to go. So far I've got the motor sorted out, stripped some parts "going to be ditching more" pulled to solo seat to have it reupholstered add a teardrop S&S ac 16 inch apes 33 inch fishtails. Going to be cutting out the cats soon and having it tuned. Stripping all the black paint off the nacelle the bars and slider covers and brushing them and repainting the tins when the rain starts back up in nor cal. [Click image for larger version

Found these bars at a swap, completely grimy when I bought them, cleaned them up a bit, would like to restore the chrome any suggestions?

Also a link to any threads on cleaning the bars up... definitely want to keep my front brake so I'm looking for a smaller Master cylinder set up, I plan on relocating the electric start and making smaller turn signal switches...also new turn signals and relocate them to the forks...any suggestions and advice would be great.

OH YA also looking for a smaller tank if any one is holding (peanut,Frisco, etc)
Mothers chrome polish is an old classic. I finally sprang for a tube of Autosol metal polish and it seems to work really well on chrome, among many other things. Made in Germany, so you know they aren't fooling around. Elbow grease or a buffing wheel.

Recently cut he rear fender and struts. Any feed back would be appreciated, I'm on the fence about it, was considering rounding out the cut but I think I took too much off to do so.

Worst case scenario is I buy a "tractor fender" and try again.

          Thanks!

Ok... it looks too short with those struts. What seat you're using makes a difference. I would have left it longer and rounded a little like you said.
If you have to get a "new" fender to try again maybe think about the bobbed/flared fender rotated forward if you are going with a solo seat. I like that look and may do it to my FXR but not as short as some I've seen.

Halfway the build. Still a lot to do.
Want a springer fork and a new handlebar but I doubt about which handlebars.
Maybe upswept pipes with fishtails, maybe a pillion pad on the fender .
              What do you guys think

Fresh off the lift, My first HD...actually my first American bike...first bike without a kicker. Got it as a " ran when parked" with the idea to bob it but it's so freakin heavy I began to question my sanity. Tore it down, built it back up with points ignition, a J cam and solid lifters. The only nod to a bobber is trashing the bags and racks , seats, and about a mile of wire & lights. I did replaced the pogo with a shorter rigid pipe and found some bars with less rise and width

Original intention was to narrow the tank, Springer front end, 18" wheels and cut down or replace the fenders with something less....a lot less. Have to put some miles on it, not a fan of the big ole battery and starter yet.

Nice Bike! I concur....If there's an elegant way to ditch the giant Diehard and then add a kicker....do it!

My 85 FLT I plan to put some sort of rear fender on this and probably springer front end. It's 6 over now may go 8 or 10 with a springer to raise it up a couple of inches, with taller shock to match height?

HarmBMW: That looks fantastic! I'm not usually into frame colors that aren't black, but everything about that machine just works so damn well. The springer is a BIG improvement.
