I dunno I kind of agree with JJ.
The bike looks like something many have built before. For the average person that doesn't know what it takes they will see what looks like a mildly modified stock bike.
Just my 2 cents, which is Canadian so it's worth almost the same as USD nowComment

I dig the look of that Gas Monkey Shovel. Is that their Build Off Contest bike? Looks like a great street bike but not exactly what I would consider bringing to a show/contest. Doesn't look like Scott's typical paint work either.
I was just thinking that bike reminded me of early Cole Foster bikes.Comment

Madriver,
It's not that they are a dime a dozen. The issue is that the target audiance of these shows couldn't tell the difference between a 45 and an Indian. Let alone build styles.
It's like you have to hit them with a hammer to get their attention because they do not see subtleies.Comment

It is possible the discovery channel scripted this build off to draw more viewers. Grass roots builders, Chop Cult types and OCC Haters wouldn't give a fuck if it was three guys building Tuttle shit barges. But by including some understated, real world crafted bike; they get the the OCC idiot fans to watch and they get us talking about it and capture even more audience. I wouldn't have give two shits about another Paul vs Paul build off, but throwing JJ and GMG into the mix caused me to take notice.Comment

for some reason that carb bugs me on the GMG bike.
there are too many off the shelf parts for it to really be in this build off, but if thy are going to go with the "period correct" look, put a period correct carb on it, not some asian made thing.
If they are going with what works, throw that damn rear brake drum in the garbage pile... I remember the days of rear drum brake only choppers and the brake fade on hot days. You made an appointment to stop themComment

I always dug Aaron's machines. This one aint exactly my cup of tea, but it's still a sweet build. He loves using those tanks. I don't understand the paint, I think it's kind of thoughtless and boring, but then again who the fuck am I to critique a bike based on a shit iphone pic.
Here's a pic of a few of Aaron's shovels I took back when he was running his shop out of deep ellum:
