I had a guy offer me a 73 honda xl175 for a 100 bucks today...In decent running condition. I'd like to make a super narrow rigid bobber out of it. Anyone ever done anything like that? Has anyone here every hard tailed a dirt bike? Here's a photo of the bike i'm talking about.
Anyone ever hardtailed/bobbed a dirtbike?

No, it can't and shouldn't be be done. If you attempt it a hole will be rended in the space time continueum and the concept of life the universe and everything will cease to exist. Anyone who disagrees with this, is a panty-waisted faggot asshole who wears a Craigslist SAMCRO cut.
Give that bike to a young kid as an intro to motorcycling. -

How about that, in less than 2 hours you've got 3 examples of exactly why you shoudn't do it. That's unless you want a bike that looks like a Kikker Hardknock that's been put together by a class of drunk, blind children who misplaced the instructions.

If anything, that thing is screaming for some hill climbing. Throw a longer swingarm on there and rip it.Comment

the answer is yes, it's been done along with minibikes, mopeds, scooters, bicycles, wheelchairs and just about every other thing in the world. it will be just as cool as any of the forementioned things, unless your doing it for a little kid then by default any gas powered machine is bad ass for children.
your mileage may vary of course, the time and money spent chopping a trailbike may get you alot of trim in your hometown, personally i'd say get a paper route with the time you'd spend, save up some nickels and build a big kids bike...Comment
