These are pretty kick ass bikes, it really has me thinking that this is what we need to add to our garage as a second bike that would be something my wife would be able to handle without much trouble. I still think the Savage is the best new bike on the market to chop up for the money. Only problem I'm having there isn't any good used ones on the market when I've got the money to grab one.

I don't mean to hijack this thread or anything but does anyone know of a 21" wheel that bolts right onto the Savage with out to much trickery? I just picked up a 1986 and want to chop it.

Nope. You'd have to respoke a 21 rim to your hub. The spacing and rotor are odd. Only chance is maybe a suzuki dirtbike. Almost all gs mags fit.

I bet an Intruder 21 bolts up no problem. I know the axles are the same and the wheel fits, just unsure about the brake lining up. Pretty sure it does though. If my savage wasn't so far back in the garage, I'd give it a shot for you.

Check into a Suzuki Intruder 800 front end, I hear they bolt right up to the Savage.

Yes, the entire Intruder front end bolts up easy, BUT the savage front end is so much cleaner looking.

my 96 Savage. RYCA hardtail that's been modified and welded on. Lots of work on this bike over the past 4 months. Ive been slowly changing it over to a Japanese bobber style build. Low, narrow and long. Still a long ways to go though.

Seems like most of my pics the bikes on the lift more than the ground!

I've wanted one of these bikes for a long time. I can't seem to find a good deal at the right time here in STL.

Picked up a 98 this spring. Been working on the front end first. Still lots do but this is it so far. Never built a girder before. Next is some better mirrors and finding better routing for cables.
