      ive got 2 ls650's
one i built for my ol lady, and one i just picked up to build for a buddy, they are fun and surprising have more power than one would think, great first bike!

change the cam chain tensioner, get a rapter 660 petcock, the vacuum ones SUCK,for long term, thats really the only mods neccesary, i like em lowered about 2-3 inches,my wifes is 3, i cut up the stock shocks and made em into struts, there is a thread on here on lowering the front end, real simple.

the black bikes my wifes the ugly green one is the "project", and a pic of what i did to the shocks just for kicks

Here's mine. Definitely an awesome bike, this is my first bike and first build I've ever done. So much fun. Took me 5 weeks to build. It's an '87. I bought it with 5,600 miles on it for $600. It was neglected for years and only took a battery to get it running, these are great bikes. Definitely mod or buy redesigned the cam chain tensioner as well.

here is the coolest one I have seen in a long time. Inspired me to find one. I ended up finding an 03, bone stock for 1400 bucks, but ended up flipping it and making a profit before I got to messing with it.

For a cheaper first bike they're fucking awesome. Fix the tensioner and headplug and then ride and chop the fuck out of it.

I've done quite the opposite to mine as most people on this site.

Being my first bike, I bought it chopped and restored it to what I consider to be more fuctional for me.

the thing about a Savage is its a big thumper. That 4 banger is not even in the same ball park as a savage..... plu syou got a flat tire.
