    Default The EVEL KNIEVEL Thread

Got any cool Vintage Evel stuff to show us?

Pictures of toys, swag, posters, maybe a cool story about meeting the man himself! Word got out with some of my customers that I'm a major vintage Evel Knievel toy freak and they have started showing up in the mail! No shit!

This shot below made my day, since I'm on the road, the guys in the shipping department took the time take a picture of our new arrival and send it to me.

If Evel is your hero too, post up some stuff here! -Bear

A friend and I got a couple of passes to the Inverrary Golf Championship from our high school principal back in 1974. Security was much lighter then and I was able to walk up to Evel and get his autograph on my program sheet. He was quite "lit up" at the time. I also met Mickey Mantle and several other celebrities and got their autographs that day as well. My girlfriend got the program and I never saw it again.
Later, in the early 1980s, I was working as a Southern Bell Telephone repairman in Fort Lauderdale and Evel had a home and a yacht called The Evel Eye. My coworkers were able to meet him then but I didn't get the chance. At that time he was in a lot of financial difficulty as well as in trouble with the law and his ex-wife. I was glad he came out of those rough times because he was one of my heroes back then.

The guy on the left is Lin Neal, a local (Memphis) drag racer, motocrosser and MAC tool man. The guy on the right offered $2,500 to anyone who could beat him in a quarter mile wheelie contest. His name is Evel Kneivel. The reason Lin is smiling so big is because of the $2500 check he is holding and the fact that Mr. Kneivel is a man of his word and a real class act.

These are prints from an artist named David Lozeau. I'm also a big fan of Evel and wanted something different painted on my tank. Unfortunately, someone else had the same idea and beat me to it. While they're not memorabilia, I think they're really cool and thought you might want to check them out.

    Met E.K. in Vegas...
He came into Staz's Bike shop when I was working there. All the people in the shop stop what they were doing and was getting his autograth..I went back in the service area to get a sale flyer that the areocharger people had out...In it had a picture of Evel on a FXR with one of there Chargers on it. I wanted him to sign it..

He did sign it..Still have it today...While I was talking to him I ask him if he still had that bike...He said he did, but took off the Turbo..!!!

Being somewhat of a smart-ass.....I ask him why...Did it scare you...?

He looked at me like he wanted to take a base-ball bat to my head and then cracked a grin.....In my book this guy was one of the greats in motorcycle history....RIP E.K.

He bought that Tombstone right before he made the jump at Snake River....Just in case he did bite the bullet.

This is Another time that I recall having to do with Evel...

I was working for a Shop in Clearwater Fl. (Biker's Dream)...

He just had his kidney transplant done in Tampa....The guy who gave E.K. one of his...Came in our shop and picked out two C.M.C. Customs ( later known as Indian M/C or was..) that E.K. picked up the Tad for....

Yeah, That's one of my favorite images of Evel, Front end up with his red white & blue cape
waving in the wind like Our American flag. He was such a fucking legend.

When I was a kid, My Dad took Me to the local track (Legendary Ascot Park Raceway), to
watch Evel jump some cars, I will never forget it.

I have an old 70's era LP Record of Evel Kneivel that I have hung onto all these years,
And yes I still have my old LP collection & I still spin my records on a regular basis. On a
    custom turntable that I built.
