that bracket from lucid is nice, but please don't use those giant springs under the seat! i'm running struts on my bike with just a metal pan with a piece of vinyl over it. it's not as bad as you might think, and those springs don't do a lot for comfort anyway. if you need suspension, then keep the shocks on the bike.

the part in that ebay link i posted isn't as pretty as the one from lucid, but it does come with a cheap seat and some springs that you can sell to recover some of the price. i sold my seat and springs for $30, so that made the bracket cheap. hell, just put an add on craigslist for a "bobber seat", and everybody will want to buy it for their black spray painted bike without any fenders (aka...their bobbers). you can also make that bracket for next to nothing.

also, please don't lift your tank up! frisco mounting a tank is one of my favorite looks, but the lines of a stock tank lifted up are all wrong.

sorry about that last part. i couldn't help myself.

Why not make or have a pan made to fit the frame without all those silly brackets? The time and money invested in a proper product will be worth it. Ill be building one soon. I'll post it up when I'm done.

if you're looking to try your own fiberglass pan, i think there is a great how-to thread in the greatest hits. i've seen some good stuff on how to make metal pans as well.

i didn't weld anything on mine. i only had to pay for the bracket (came with seat and springs that i sold) and the sheet of diamond plate (along with a few bolts and some marine grade vinyl). i originally had two bolts going through the back where the springs normally mount, but I just screwed some nuts on them tight and covered them with some rubber chair leg thingys. the rubber chair leg thingys sit right behind and to either side of the ECM box. doing this kept it low to the frame. i can send you some pics if you wanna see how i did it.

Don't fool around with those silly brackets and awkward springs... Make or have a seat made to fit that bike! Here's one I just finished up. It's a combo deal with the rear fender but I can make it work with stock fenders too.

Killer seat, but no word yet on when it will be available for the '04+. There was suppose to be an announcement this summer, but nothing's been said yet.

Ghetto Mount...........

http://www.chopcult.com/forum/showth...t=Ghetto+Mount

Admittedly not the "Proper" tig welded solution ........but if you just wanna try out a solo seat without committing to it I figured it's a good solution.
