have you been to a socialist country? have you been to ANY other country? canada is pretty nice. france is pretty nice. scandinavia is pretty nice. sweeden, switzerland, holland... you can go to the dr if you're sick without having to sell your home. you can have your basic needs met without trillion dollar corporations bending you over and raping you. your children can get an education without incurring hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. most get a minimum of 30 paid vacation days a year. most americans get 5-14.

I didn't watch the video, or read all of these posts, regardless. I don't know why in the fuck we would waste money to set up "immigration check points". Look at how much we wasted on the Border Fence,(which is a joke) You see it is "The Administration" that wants NO BORDERS ! They want Mexico , US, and Canada as a "super country" These "checkpoints" have nothing to do with "immigration", We don't even deport them any more, so whats the point of them trying to find out who is legal and who is not? They're just going to let the illegals go on their merry way anyhow. However, they have EVERYTHING to do with stripping YOUR RIGHTS as a U.S. Citizen. The $850,000,000,000 bailout is more money than NASA's entire 50 year running budget. That's more money than NASA has ever spent. Ever. In total.
But it's too much to ask for healthcare for everyone. I'd rather our tax money be distributed amongst Americans, call it what you will, than bail out scum fuck banks because they thought predatory lending and interest only loans would work.

Have you READ the healthcare bill? I am over 1000 pages into it - there is some fucked up shit in there - a result of "we have to pass it before we read it". It doesn't GUARANTEE healthcare, it forces people to buy it or get fined (or taxed, whatever you want to call it, Obama sure can't keep it straight between "tax" and "penalty"). Even if you pay the tax (600-2000$ for not having HC) you don't automatically GET healthcare from the government. A lot of people are talking about what free shit they're going to get, but haven't bothered at all to educate themselves on what exactly they are getting stuck with under the new healthcare laws.
Sure, universal care is a great idea. However, it isn't FREE, and countries that have it pay a much higher tax rate than we do now for socialized medicine, and there are a lot of Cons for every Pro to Soc. HC. Private industry is the reason we even have Canadians that come here to get care that they can't get expediently in their own country. I know, I lived next to a ton of them who had homes both in WA state and B.C., Canada for six years. All they ever did was complain about how flawed their own system was in aspects that you and I take for granted. I am ALL for helping people out, and agree that our taxes are better spent that way - however, we have a VERY high rate of people that abuse the system and leech off of it. All you have to do is go to Youtube or google how to ride the welfare system and you will find tons of videos and guides to get free shit for nothing. That's where the BULK of your taxpayer dollars are going.
I work in a hospital, I see the shit every day. The bulk of walk-ins into our ER are people coming in for bullshit like cough and cold, because they don't want to pay 50 bucks to go to a quick-care. They usually end up never paying their bill - even though the hospital is more than willing to take 10 bucks a month, cut a HUGE chunk out of your bill if you can't afford it, and offers charity assistance. NOBODY is denied care, ever.
most 'socialist' leaning countries pay higher taxes, but they also GET something for their taxes. free healthcare. free/cheap college educations. 2 to 3x's more vacation days, social programs. etc. when you do the math and balance it all out, they are definitely not paying more than we are. we're like the 'base' model car. no AC, no power locks, no trim features. we talk about how expensive these other countries are, but then spend even more than them trying to add on 'options' just to get up to their level.

if you knew so many canadian families wealthy enough to own homes in both countries, you did not know the average canadian. rich people always have something to complain about. take a poll of the canadians on this board, i'll guarantee you find the americans are far unhappier with their coverage than the canadians. not to mention, i'll bet at least half of us on here don't even have coverage, or only have it because of a spouse, meanwhile 100% of them have it.

I got my real estate appraisal license in 2003. I went to the fucking ghettos of Orange County where people were pulling all the equity out of their homes, getting a 5 year interest only loan and buying escalades, boats, toy hauler trailers, etc with all their "equity".
As an appraiser it was unethical to devalue a home as well as adding value that shouldn't be there. I wanted to vomit as all the comparable sales in the ghetto were at $540,000 and I had to give this family a value they didn't deserve.
They KNEW their loan was interest only for 5 years. They KNEW that their payment was going to balloon up to over $5,000/month and they didn't care. It was easy fucking money.
I could have bought a house, but I knew it was a fucking psycho thing to do.
No one forced these people to do this. They took the easy way. They knew they had no means to make the payment after 5 years. I don't feel bad for the banks OR the people that did this. Everyone knew what they were doing and it was sick.
Now the banks are holding on to "inventory" to keep house prices high. And intelligent me is still waiting to buy a home. Because of the fucking greedy assholes that can't do math.
The banks should never have loaned lower middle class people a half a million bucks. But that stupid asshole should never have thought he could borrow that money while making $40,000/year.
I have good credit, I'm not gonna go finance a Lambo just because I might get approved. That's nuts.

i agree with that, fucksticks fucked up everything but i would add bush deregulating the stock and banking industries didn't help...it was greed run amuck, fly by night mortgage company's, mortgage brokers flat out lying to people, banks lowering their qualification for mortgages, trades knowingly selling bad debt and so on...
a lot of people tend to make bad decisions and bankers take advantage of stupid people which is why the regulation was in place originally, so the whole didn't suffer for peoples stupidity as we are now...
oh yea, can't forget the brokers betting on companies failing and making BIG profits off of it...wall street turned into the biggest casino in the country and still is!

I'm actually glad these assholes gave dumbshits stupid amounts of money that they couldn't pay back, allowed me to swoop in and pluck that sucker up after everything went CRASH at about 1/2 of what it sold for a couple years earlier. Now as far as the rest of this crap goes you're all fucked, we are all gonna die and no one is going to be happy. The only fair thing to do is make everyone equally miserable. Canadians don't get free healthcare and the US military is going to have to go into business for itself. We got the best guns and we got the most bombs why not?
