Does it just slide on the studs? Like a friction mount?

Yup! The pan will get foamed and upholstered as you see it so the grommets pop/slide right onto those alum studs. I've done it before (see below) on other seats and it works really well.

Riding it will be more comfortable when the seat is done. The upgraded suspension bits in the 39mm front end feel really nice.

I get it from a guy I use for upholstery services, it's called rebond or rebonded foam. The are a few places you can find it online if you can't buy it locally.

Done and being ridden. Man I have to say, putting the Racetech fork emulators and Speedmerchant preload adjusters in the 39mm front end make for a great front end. This bike feels glued to the road.
