    Possibly Purchasing a 1957 Pre-Unit Triumph

Hello all. I have a chance to buy a 1957 pre-unit Triumph (with title) from a co-worker. Her husband passed. He used to work on & collect Triumphs. She's asking $6,000 for it. I haven't had the chance to look at it in person yet, but just wanted to know if this was a fair price. She said it was running last year. No leaks.

Here' s a couple pics of the bike:

Looks like a 60's Bonnie head and rocker boxes.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd offer low 5.

It's worth what youre willing to pay. To me that would be $4500. Tops

These days because of cracks in the pre unit heads worn out cylinders you see many pre units with unit top ends on them, but that bike is still worth 6K or more. as for pre unit Triumph's, that's a clean bike and not a bad price.

There are mainly two different types of Triumph owners...

Guy's that own a Triumph because they can't afford a decent Harley.
Guys that can afford any bike they want, and they want a Triumph.

Thanks to everyone for the info & advice! I've only dealt with jap bikes so this is new territory for me.

Gonna take a look at it this weekend and try to get it for a lower price. After talking to her some more I learned that her late husband used to race Triumphs and as it turns out she has 7 other Triumphs sitting in her living room! I'll take pics of the bikes and post 'em up this weekend.
