Internal combustion engines of the future?

Got this from the kneeslider. Lately I've been wondering about the future of transportation and ICE's. Things seem to suggest batteries for the future -- lame. In the meantime, I would love to differ to an engine like this...

A small lightweight thumper putting out tremendous horsepower and torque. Add a small sleek gas tank that could get you across a desert. Sounds too good to be true. I hope I'm wrong.

What do you guys think?

Thats really interesting, Ive always loved 2 cycles, and would love to see this progress.....
But, Im sure there are plenty of important people in this country who do not want to see a super-efficient-high-MPG-miracle-internal combustion engine make it to main stream production.

Any one remember Stan Meyers and his dune buggy? Its been claimed as a false story but it makes you think.....!!

I know exactly what you're talking about on both accounts and couldn't agree with you more. However, this seems to be much more out in the open and recognized. Other articles I followed up on read that company was awarded and recognized by the SAE world congress -- whatever that means.

All I'm saying is, I would love for an ICE to live on(long enough for me to die riding one) with figures like the grail engine claims. If it was available and it could fit into a motorcycle frame, I'm sure someone would build one. I would if I could.

If you ask me, with the prospective trends in fuel prices and global competition, this time around it seems much more possible. If, for example, Germany and Japan successfully adopted the technology, would the the big 3 not follow suit? I guess we would just ban a law against it to keep the oil companies afloat.
