Found a springer in my neighbors yard. What kind is it?

So I found out my neighbor used to be a chopper guy way back in the day. I went over to ask if he had some risers I could buy from him, and I saw sitting outside this springer. He said it was a harley springer but it appears that some one one tried to extend it a couple inches back in the day and didnt do so good a job. I'm wondering how much something like this would be worth, or if I should offer to buy it from him, to keep and use, or if I could possibly sell it for him, because he's a cool weird dude. In the pic you can see the crack in the rear leg from the extend job. Is this a Harley springer? Like I said, I'm not trying to profit on this, just want to see if its usable. Either I'll help him sell it or buy it myself...

Thanks any help on id ING this would be cool. I also found a couple springs for a springer and a couple rockers like the ones on this front end. Dude actually has tons of cool old shovel era stuff that he won't let go, but the springer he's not interested in...

Ok cool then, next question is who can make this thing back to stock length and fix the crack?

Or, what would be the proper way to rehab this thing to be safe?

it looks like it cam be saved
you would have to run an inner sleeve and weld on some new legs
it would have to be done properly and in a jig so it doesnt warp
it will take some work but yes it can be saved
also just go over the rest of it and check for straightness and more cracks
ive saved worse springers than those before

Yes, it's def HD

Yes, it can most likely be saved. I wouldn't trust just any old welder to fix it though. Find someone that has TONS of experience working with springers. The repair is going to be a bit costly, so I wouldn't give more than $50 or so for the springer. Tell him what your plans are, maybe he'll let you take it somewhere for a repair quote before you offer a price so you know what you're looking at.

OR, you can go ahead and give him the $50 and ship it to me for safe keeping

Ha!
Type in HD springer on thEbay. Those go for stupid amounts of money.

Definitely worth fixing......but if yer gettin the work done, you may as well make it 8-10 over and sell it to me.
Or you buy it for cheap and we can see about makin a trade or something for it.
Wanna Ironhead narrowglide frontend? Just sayin. I want it.
