Is hating god and religion the new flannel shirt? Was there an article about who is right, and who is wrong in The Horse? I mean, I understand this is an open forum and everyones entitled to..blah, blah, blah.
But what is the deal with this? Why hate on other peoples beliefs? For or against religion.
Can we get over this and get back to talking about vests, stories that start with " this one time I was so drunk...", chicks with tattoos who are sluts, and all the other stuff that really matters?

I know it.
There is like 4 or 5 threads that went all religious. You'd figure 1 thread where everybody says
"I don't like God because, I don't believe in God because, hail Satan, Church is dumb, Christians are dumb, I had it tuff, Everything is crammed down my throat, Science, facts, reason, belief, faith, I believe in me, lets drink, to each his own,'personal experience', I had a bad time with religion when I was a kid, I met a guy who was 'christian' and he was not nice/cool/tolerant/smart/cool and he did something horrible that people do/something that rubbed me the wrong way/ something that was worse than what a 'good' person would have done.
Then People say:
Whatever,
To each their own
It's always the same story.
For or against. Nobody is gonna change anyone's minds.
"There's plenty of room in this big ol'internet"
This horse has been beat.
Here's some topics for discussion:
SOA
No front brake
Nazi stuffs
Bobbers and how they are traditionally an 81 Honda cm400
Flannel Shirts
Baggers
Fat tire bikes

i have an idea, shut up and fucking work on/ride your bike. while youre doing that, ask aloud about religion and see if anyone has anything to say. if you get an answer, youre not riding/wrenching hard enough.

Since it's in the Junk Pile, I don't see the problem with it.
I guess the problems arise when name calling happens. (Which has not been happening)
Here's a description about the Junk Pile.
"This is where good threads gone bad end up. You can keep arguing politics and religion, but not on the main board."
I don't go in the Jap or Harley sections and run my mouth about Triumphs(I do it on the main forum). If dudes talk religion and want the opinion of like minded dudes, what's the big deal?
The horrible thing for me is that we can talk about practically whatever we want. But once we hit the one topic that offends you, we have to stop?
One dude got mentioned retarded people and someone with a retarded family member flipped out. Same with gays and other shit.
If anti-religion people talk amongst themselves and religious people insert themselves in the conversation, then caveat emptor, dude.
I don't hate or despise anyone with one exception. Hypocrites. If people hate religious threads, and not other topics, that bums me out. Hate it all, or hate nothing.

Nah, Bean.. A while back, while you were AWOL, there was a big thread that went on and on full of people bashing religion and describing how essentially all religious people are basically stupid, evil, & not fit to live....basically being every bit as indignant & as self righteous as the christians they were bashing, like it's ok for an atheist to be human, but not a christian.
I didn't wade into it, but my thoughts are this:
If you are religious, that's your business..good for you. If your not religious, that's your business..good for you.
Not all religious people are ignorant, and not all religious people believe in a "streets of gold" heaven and a "sea of fire" hell, some religious folks are extremely intelligent...some even scientists, and for atheists to stereotype them is just as messed up as religious people stereotyping atheists as immoral siners who are going to hell. Yes alot of religious people are immoral hypocrits... but so are alot of atheists.
Some religious people genuinely take the golden rule to heart and try to live their lives as compassionately as humanly possible.
By the same token, not all atheists are immoral. Some of them are very moral, compassionate, caring, generous, trustworthy people who's values are every bit as decent, if not moreso than many christians. I know atheists whom I would trust with everything I hold dear in this world....same goes for some christians I know.
Live and let live. If you don't agree with it, that's fine, but you don't need to shit on somebody else's beliefs....whether their beliefs are religious in nature or atheistic in nature. If someone approaches you with a self righteous holier than thou attitiude, and informs you that your "going to hell" because of your beliefs feel free to unload on them.. you have my blessing, but I don't see any real benefit in coming onto a chopper forum unprovoked, and shitting all over a people's belief system because you feel superior to them..and that goes for religious people as well as atheists.
I recently went to the Just Kickers Rally and there was a motorcycle ministry group there. They gave out free water to folks who needed it. Everyody partook but few thanked them, or donated to their offering plate. Those folks didn't preach to anybody that I could see. I did, however, see them cleaning the bathrooms and showers, and making sure that the restrooms had toilet paper and towels.. and they asked nothing in return. I was dehydrated and the one venfdor there wran out of water, so I really needed the water they gave me, and I sincerely thanked them, and donated to thier offering plate. They were nice people, and I just cannot imagine feeling the need to go shitting on decent people like that.
So with that said I have to agree with the original poster's comments. What's the point?..
..and FWIW, Though my post mentions you, Bean, don't think that thiis is directed at you... It's not. It's directed toward those who joined in on the dogpile in the other thread a while back... you were on hiatus when that all went down... Welcome back, BTW, We missed you around here...good to see you back.
..and with that, I'm finished with the topic, and I'll go back to reading the bike threads, and event listings...feel free to fight amongst yourselves.
