ironhead condenser

if the condenser was bad would it cause the bike to pop and backfire and run like shit. what does the condenser do????

Sounds like it. I remember a guy on the JJ had the same problem. He replaced his condensor; that fixed the problem.

Or your timing plate wasn't secure. When my points go out of adjustment they do just that, pop and backfire, all I gotta do is reset it to .20 (I know book says .18 but the bike likes 20 more)
