Any tricks for masking small recessed areas- I want to touch up a pair of metal grips (like in the pic) without getting paint in the slots. I used red in the slots so I don't want to just do the whole thing black......

You can buy a paintable mask(liquid) that artists use. Paint it on,let it set up,paint your color.Turns into like a rubbery substance.Pretty easy to remove. Hobby Lobby or Michaels would sell it. Good Luck.

I used to use grease or vaseline to mask off funky areas that I didn't want to trim tape for. Just lay it on where you need it, paint, and then wipe of the painted grease when the paint dries.

you can make a mask with elmer's glue and dawn dish soap. paint it on, let it dry, peel it off. it's like the stuff mentioned earlier. cheap soap doesn't work as well as dawn.
