Thanks everyone! I'm sold on the Triumph route. It's my direction for sure!

Unfortunately no go on my offer on the 750, which I thought was reasonable compared to related prices. Wife tightened my budget seeing as she anticipates me spending more on other parts to customize it. I'll keep an eye out, but this thread really helps with my decision. So again, thank you all for your input.

It's been a while since I started this thread. Well, tonight, I'm a proud owner of a 65 Triumph TR6.

I just need to get used to the British control setup, and the forwards. I will be replacing it with mids, if anyone is interested in the forward controls, pm me.

I hope to man. I hope I get the hang of it. Just a tad intimidated with the controls, being a foot clutch and a hand shifter. I'm tempted to order a hand clutch to be honest.

We'll see, I haven't taken it for a spin yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

DUDE!, You'll love the foot clutch.
Definitely a change of pace.......which is the majority of the fun.
Though , with the lack of front brake, you will learn where to the stop lights on hills are located......and avoid them.


Just remember......


PLAN AHEAD!
If you see a light is red or yellow......have that beotch in neutral with the quickness.
That's really the only downside to a suicide clutch in my opinion.
Planning=Playing it safe compared to a hand clutch.

You'll figure it out. That's part of the fun.

Do you have a king and queen by any chance? I have a tank that looks like a large wassell. Not really sure what it is (untrained eye).

I'm also tempted to change the bars for a Tbar. They're 1".

For what it's worth.....Keeping these old bikes on the road is no easy feat,,,,,,no matter what brand.

glad to see another come to the dark side (brit bikes)as far as reliability ,,it,s what you build into your bike ,use the best parts you can get ,

I owned an ironhead as my first bike, completely rebuit. From personal experience.... go with the triumph! I love HD bikes but in my book the ironhead is a pain in the ass. If you decide to do the ironhead.... more power to you, i probably was just a wuss!

Vaughn, I'm seriously not sure what I'm going to do with the bike yet. I dig the stance as is to be honest. Wanted a lane splitter type of ride. So for the time being, other than the mid controls which I just scored at a swapmeet, repaint the tank with lace in t he dished part of the tank, smaller tool box, that'll probably it for right now. Winter I'd like to take it apart, rewire, re-run the coils, and polish the motor.

A stock Sportster will smoke a triumph. Just saying. Ive had both always heard triumphs were fast...meh...

I like both.they are both fun to thrash about so you cant go wrong

Just eager to get my mid controls setup already. Need a few more parts... hopefully by Saturday afternoon. But I hope to at least take it for a good spin this weekend. Cold or not, I'll be out there if all is in order.
