Fantastic. I just bought a cool old eighties motocross helmet and it needs a lick of paint and a reline and this is going to give me a wicked after work project!

Thank you for the write up! I had my helmet "professionally" redone, and they "professionally" fucked it up. Other than it not being neat, they put the main seam which they sowed, right in the middle of the forehead. Which was like riding with a nail being driven in to my my head. I followed this tutorial, and put my seams over the temple, where the least pressure from wind is and it totally fixed my problem.

I used foam from Joanne's and I used t-shirt material for the covering. The skull is from an old T I had laying around and the rest is a $3 T that I found at Joanne's.

It so much more comfortable now... Thank you!!!!!

      Here's my shot.....

                Pantsbeer,

Thanks for the how to. The liner in my bucket was looking like social security tits, but now I've got a super cool guy lid liner.

Note: I used 3M Super 77 glue and it is super sauce. When the landlord/girlfriend got home from work we almost had an intervention because of the chemical aroma Take That Shit Outside and don't spray it on the kitchen table.

Thanks for the write up! I've been wanting to do this for a while, but didn't know how to go about it.

You guys have all done awesome work. Has anyone tried doing a full face? I have a couple full faces from the 70s id like to do, but was looking for info how to do it. Thanks

What do you buy there ( at joann fabrics) ?
some special foam? or just fabrics glue and etc. ?

anyway what's the correct foam to use? the only helmet i have has a very hard foam, which looks much different from the foam used in projects form this topic..
Where can ig et something like that?
