Von Dutchs xavw?

Maybe a repost, did a search on here but found nothing recent.
I'm a little late, but I guess Mike Wolf from American Pickers picked up Dutchs xavw for $21000 sometime late last year? Damn!

I'm with ya on them driving up the market. Sucks. But it's pretty badass that this thing was hiding for all these years, and then turns up all there.

Just saw that show last night. I've seen V-Dub motors in BMW frames but never in a XA frame.

Those dudes were sign salesmen in a previous life. They decided to head out in another direction, and start buying and selling old shit they found in their travels. Everyone said they were nuts. The rest is history and more power to 'em.

Sweet find.

Kinda hard to say they are driving up the market since they typically let the Seller set the price and then hustle them down. Besides, I hardly ever see them pay a whole lot for anything, I sometimes wonder how they even cover their costs with the Expected Profit Margins they show.

thats a little true. but i think my point was missed.
they buy for cheap, then they tell the world what they sold it for or are going to sell it for. which is fine, because we all do that. but not on a scale like that. it's like ebay, everything is a million dollars on there. everytime i go to a swap meet, some dude tells me he can get xxx amount of dollars on ebay for it(then he shouldnt be at a fuckin swap meet IMO). personally,i sometimes have to buy a whole pile of cool old parts just to get one or two things i really NEED,then of course try and sell off everything else to make up for the $ pent on all of it.
but it was alot more fun when it was a "subculture" type of thing.
hunting for parts, getting a good deal, meeting neat people along the way.
i dont know if you are personally speaking of me in the "classifieds",but if so,i know a ton of people here that have got very good deals from me as well as i have got some really good deals and trades from people here as well (thanks all of you). prices arent always set in stone.

you havent understood yet that this whole buy/sell thing is hypocritical?
when you sell, you want to make good money(we all do),but when you want to buy something,we all want a cheap deal. its the nature of the beast and thats what makes it a somewhat hypocritical thing.
if anyone denies that, then maybe they need a hug or something.

and as far as that bike being unearthed, that is very neat to see it still around.

love,
one of the "retards"

I aint gonna bust American Pickers chops. Anyone who has a passion for anything 2-wheeled like Mike does is OK in my book. He's helping preserve the old stuff .

Check out my classifieds for some original Bates seat rust particles....
