I don't think I would buy it if it's a basket that someone tried to steal, you have no clue what is missing and how much damage has been done, just my .02

I know it has been said before, but, I did about 6 hours of riding with my buddy that has an 883 and he did fine keeping up with my 1200 at about 80 mph.

Ive always ridden sportbikes so going to an 883 was a weird transition. I didnt get the bike to haul ass like I can on a sportbike so it really wasnt the end of the world. The bike is pretty slow but not as slow as many people make it seem, or as slow as I was expecting it to be. That being said, I plan on doing a 1250 conversion this winter. I find myself missing the speed and power of my old bikes more and more and the 1250 should provide a happy medium.

Didnt take time to read through the thread cause its kinda a silly question to me, but Ill chime is as I know. 883 isnt slow. First, Im 6'3" and 200lbs. I had a 2002 883 that was plenty fast, not wicked fast but plenty fast. I now have a 2009 iron 883 and its even faster. Iv3e had it up to 110mph no problem with luggage. I mean, how much faster do you wana go. Bottom line, no newer harley is going to be slow. Also, I run it 2 up all the time no prob and I have an evo chopper and I never think, dang my sportys slow when I ride it. I suggest you go down to harley, give em your licence and test drive one.

I have had a couple 883's and im 160.. have my 110 pound chick on the back and we can get going... Its not your poppas 150 thousand cubic inch pro street bike.. but its a reliable bike and gets you down the highway with no problems.

I'm around 220 and I've had mine in the low 90's. It'll cruise 70-75 all day long but, I have seen a few that just lay a turd when you twist on it. I've heard pipe and air cleaner combos have a lot to do with it. I never took the stock pipes off mine or did much beyond some cosmetic work. Be careful about basket cases, I still have nightmares...

Mine works great. Im 230 and I pass people all day with no problem, accelerate up hills in 5th gear, and gets up to 100mph. I dont ride the piss out of it either. Its got more potential as well. Sure a 1200 has the "Yeah, its a 1200" factor but what the fuck ever. Build a slick bike and no one will care if its a 883...
