Springer trail

I'm trying to get a handle on this whole trail thing. The thing that is confusing me is that because of the way a rocker on a springer is designed, it actually seems to set the axle farther forward a good 3 inches than a standard hydraulic front end. Can anyone explain the difference this makes when setting it up. It seems like getting the right trail on a springer would be tougher that a hydraulic. Thanks,

There are other explanations out there as well. This one works pretty well. Springers are great because you can adjust your trail just by messing with the rockers. Beats my hydro set up, I'm sitting at like a 7" trail because of my rake Can't do a thing about it.

There was also a trail calculator somewhere I had saved. I'll try and find it.

yes, the rockers allow you to make adjustments. i think most springers have the neck almost in line with the legs. your glide setup will have the forks in front of the neck stem. this will effect the trail as well.
