You should use a metal conditioner before you clear it, and make sure you dont touch the metal with your bare hands. as soon as the conditioner evaporates shoot the clear asap.
my tank is steel, candy krylon, then selectclear shot out of a hf detail gun. been about a year and no rust whatsoever.

ok maybe a dumb question but i found some automotive dupli color adhesion promoter, in a rattle can, it says its ideal for plastics, fiberglass, and car trim.

do i need to go find something different? a metal specific adhession promoter??

Wicked, you know I like the flake, nothin better with some lace and lines and scallops.... but my original idea on a rat bike was to run bare metal with some stickers. Just for fun. When I get bored I guess I can take it off. POR makes supposedly a good "aluminum" finish which Would prob look like unfinished metal, only better.

So it wasn't a lifestyle choice, just a fashion idear....

this black and white photo isnt the best example but I powder coated the tank clear, wetsanded and taped for paint, then sprayed regular automotive clear over it all. The flames are showing a very small amount of rust now (over 5 yrs now) but i like it....

see that isn't too bad. Not PLAIN, just letting the fancy speak for itself. That was the other thing I wanted -- pinstriping on plain metal.

                        Cool, nice

i def love flash, last bit a skins i had on my bike had large flake and deep candy red and blue but i'm lookin for a classy understated bike...gonna give that a shot.

pluse things normaly don't last much more than a year on my bike anyway before i tear down and do somehting new

Anyone remember this one? It was bare finish with just some striping, and sweet looking in my book! Can't find info on what they did it with though.
