Opinions on this rear seat

Talking about the passenger seat, no the front one. I'm building the bike for my father-in-law, and about finished with fab work, but we're not sure about the back seat.

-he likes the solo sprung seat up front
-it has to have a passenger seat
-doesn't want a king/queen
-fender is only 5.5" wide.

I don't think there's really any other option that will work. Anyone have any ideas or opinions about this one?

I love those traditional pillion pads, and I think it suits the bike. Rock on!

Just as an aside, have you got gigantic braided hose wrapped over the exhaust pipes, or is it just a weird reflection that I am seeing?

Vince, I think its to thick personally. A thinner one or something with a more rounded profile would look better. IMO...

I agree. It doesn't look bad but a little more of a rounded edge would fit the other seat better.

Tradition pillion works...but what do you have there? The base looks flat instead of contoured to the fender and the rear of the foam looks thicker then the front.

Well. It's mounted. Taller sissy bar might look a little better. I'll have to talk to him and see what he thinks about it. Thanks for the input guys.

I've seen those P-pads mounted the other way and/or further forward. Also have seen them mounted with leather straps so as not to require a bunch of holes in the fender.

It'd make sense as sometimes the OL isn't as much of a hardass the rider and may be done with it after her first 10 minutes on the bike. And my OL hated not having anything behind her and said she felt like she was gonna fly off so build it like if you had to sit on the back of it.

I've seen a "fender bra" which was more or less a padded patch of tooled leather that looked pretty sharp, but I don't imagine it'd be too great for a rigid.

Also shop around for different pads. A nice lower profile rounded one may look cleaner depending on the lines of the bike (tank, fork style, fender stle, etc)

Nice lookin bike though. Really dig those pipe sleeves. Classy take on header wrap.
