Ultima has the most economical kit for dyna's. part # 58-900, $749.00 from Jireh cycles.
Their belt drive kit is made by BDL, (at least the last one I bought was).
The 2" belt is best, the larger ones are just to compensate for a small dick and make cornering a bitch.
Don't go messing around with hacking up the primary or some homemade weak ass inner primary either. Dyna's have a habit of twisting the primary's and cracking them. HD added more webbing to the inner and outer cases after the first few years. I would recommend a torque plate if you're going to the open belt drive especially if your motor is putting down more than 80hp.

That's not terrible, half the price of the other stuff I had seen. Thanks for the tip man, now to save some pennies.

Enclosed chain. One could do an enclosed belt conversion fairly cheap. The biggest part of the belt drive kit cost is the motor/trans plate. IMO it's best to stay with the factory chain primary in that case.

The Ultima drive kits are good, haven't seen any problems with the couple I installed. Make sure your year bike is covered by the kit your ordering and test fit everything before locking everything down. I had one that required a different compensator pulley than the kit came with. I called and they sent the correct one out ASAP.

Bandersnatch, the Dyna frame came out in '91. Are you sure that '90 isn't an FXR?

As far as the torque arm is concerned, Carlini has the only off the shelf product I know of, (I've seen a few custom made ones a logn time ago). It's blingy billet and costs $300. Add about $20 for your local powdercoater to de-bling it in black.

Hmm, I guess thats one thing on my bike that is aftermarket tha tI thought was stock. I better count the teeth on the pulleys and see if its been re-geared.

This thread is the bollox. You lot are Dyna Gurus!

I'm about to shell out for one of the first twin cams. Its a wide glide, S&S carb has been fitted. I think it 1999. I'm not too sure at the moment.

IS there anything specific to look out for on this engine? I.e cam chains, flywheels etc etc or am I just being paranoid reading about the later twinkles.

I'll get some more details later.

Ben

The kick option only works on carb models. The kick start will not work on efi. That is why the baker says it fits till 06. That is when carb was no longer an option stock. 07 and up all efi
