Yeah $3k is a bit to dump on some Baker stuff, it can be had for about 1/2 the price from other manufactures but I'd be willing to bet it would be at about 1/2 the quality.
A guy I know swapped in a RevTec 6 speed on his and it cost less than a grand but when he dragged me to his house from work so I could take a look at what I needed to do to my bike (thankfully I'm about 180 out from his SOA/81 style) I noticed that it was leaking enough to make me question it holding enough fluid between fluid changes. I think I'm gonna play it safe and save pennys and recycle scrap for the extra $2k when it comes to doing this 4 or 5 years down the line once everything else is done.
Prime example of NICE to do not NEED to do.

Get an Evo Dyna, 94-98. Best engine HD ever made IMO. Why? because it's reliable, easy and cheap as fuck to buy, care for, etc. (honestly, give me a twin cam, I'll trade it for 2 evo bikes in a microsecond). I did the cop motor mods so it hauls enough ass to get me in trouble and keep it reliable. I've ridden mine coast to coast 3 times in the past 5 years, along with a pile of commuting and dozens of short trips. It hasn't missed a beat or broken down ever. I fitted it with a Danny Gray seat and it's comfortable all day long every day. I also have a set of large saddlebags, a sissy bar gear rack and a windshiled for my annual 2 week touring trips.
This one was my second Superglide, the first one I had was a 94 and I rode it 150K before I sold it, still running on it's second top end.
IMO, best bike value for the money in the whole world.

I meant back to 1991, typo!
There was a small change made to the frame in the early years to lower the seat height by replacing the tubular frame section under the seat with a flat plate. I think it was '94.

hell yeah, I love wide glides. I cant get the pick to expand but it looks like they changed the rear fender. I feel that its a little over priced, but I'm not familiar with the market in MI.

you can probaly get it for less. 93 wide glide in oregon would be around 5k. I have a 99 superglide sport...done lots of work on er'...got rid of the chains and tentioners...installed S&S geardriven cams, push rods, lifters, heavy duty springs, valve grind, port and polish the heads
stage one intake. cycle shack slip ons with no baffels.
she runs out like a rapped ape....dynas are great all around bikes....but I still love my 73 shovel.

Yes and no, Dynas all share some basic similarities, they all have a swing arm rubber mount frame, wide glides have different forks, lows have shorter rear shocks, street bobs are the more basic model having neither, fxdx's have higher performance suspension and dual disks up front and a higher stance for cornering, I think all dynas can have either mid or forward mounted controls, Fat bobs have dual headlights, larger diameter forks and dual disks, depending on what year and trim level fenders can vary between a couple different styles and depending on what year the bike is they'll have different sized motors, fuel injection or carb, single or dual piston caliper brakes, evo or twin cam motors, tachs or no tachs, luggage and a fairing (t-sport model) etc etc etc. Easiest thing to do is look up dyna glide on wiki or do a google search. Some models are more desirable than others with certain cliques for various reasons blah blah blah. Yeah there's a lot of poop on dynas.
I love my 2000 fxdx, great bike but its still got its own set of issues (cam tensioners). Before I bought mine I did a crap ton of research and decided that I could live with having to swap out to gear driven cams. I originally wanted a sportster sport but the dyna suits me better and only ran me about $2000 more than the same year sportster.

first couple years of the TC still had the timken crank bearings. before the went to the straight ones.
if my 03 wasnt already machined for the timkens before I got it I probably would have it done, or jsut find some 99-02 cases.
Pre-Delphi injection blows bad..... Delphi injection = bad ass.
