I ordered the DYNATEK single fire kit today. A buddy of mine heard that when switching from dual to single fire that i need to switch cams. Sounds bogus to me but any truth to it? Also, how do I wire a single fire coil? The dual fire coil has 2 wire posts and the single has 3 wire posts and will the dyna ignition module use the oem plug thats on the bike stock? Thx.
First ....no you dont have to do anything with the cams.
Ok now. The module that is under your seat and the module in the cone will both be replaced with the new unit. the module under the seat will go bye bye along with the bank sensor on the side of your battery tray. Your gonna be cleaning up a large mass of wires.
The dynatek module will have the instructions included .....and its really simple . It will have a white wire that will carry 12v to your coil. A pink wire will go to the rear cylinder terminal on the coil. Blue to the front cylinder . Violet wire to the voes and green wire to tach (if youre running one). You did order a coil from Dynatek as well? A stock coil wont work. Also you need to make sure that your plug wires are suppression core. You can get a suppression core kit from dynatek .
Anyway thats pretty well it. Set your timing and experiment with the advance curves and your good to go.
