If you have something plugged in, I would say yes. If not, then no

Yep, that's how I did it.

One of the quickest, easiest and useful modifications you can do(IMO).

I wouldn't leave anything plugged in all night; but I've yet to have a dead battery from using it. I also have one of those rechargeable flashlights that plug into it, great investment if you are traveling.

I used a 5amp because that's what was used in my car fuse panel and I've never had it pop. I also carry an assortment of fuses in my tool bag, just in case.

And 1 more comment!

Someone on here said they fit right in the end of 1" bars. While I have no experience with that, it does seem like a slick idea.

These are excellent Ideas!!! I have a 5 gallon tank so I should be pretty good with that, I get about 170 miles of hard riding with gear.

We're planning on the Garage Co. event in Pelham about 10-11 hours away the end of the month, hoping that will give me a rough estimate on some things.

I appreciate all the tips, I'll be working on the charge asap.

Keep em coming!

All the auto parts stores sell weatherproof wire/battery connectors. Wire that stuff up with the weatherproof connectors. Count on it raining on you. A cigarette lighter and some of that heat shrink tubing is a good idea too

sighless beat me to it.

I run a 10 amp fuse. I have let things plugged in for an hour or 2 but would not leave it plugged in overnight.

Screw connections unless you're sold on keeping things stock, solder up your connections corrosion can't get into soldered connections. Anything you're not gonig to solder together slather with a good coat of dielectric gel, this stuff helps keep corrosion at bay. Heat shrink tubing is a really good idea, as is blocking off anything water can get into that it shouldn't. I'm a year round rider (granted its southern California) and I get quite a bit of moisture on my way in to work for a good part of the year. When I pulled apart my wiring with my last redo of the bike I was surprised at how many of the connections looked crappy. Tracking down a bad connection in the dark or rain can be miserable at best. Next redo on my bike I'm going to eliminate as many connections like this as possible, I haven't this time around because I know I'm going to be pulling everything apart again within the next year or so.
