I picked up a '40 Ford pickup cab today in pretty rough shape but it's good enough for what I want to do with it. It was originally a Oregon State College ( now Oregon State University) campus truck for there forestry program. Plans are to chop it about 6", channel it 3" over a custom frame, built 302 with a 4 gear and a 9" rear with posi.

Started the chop, decided to go with 5" instead of 6", the windshield will be around 5 1/2" tall. Every time I take pictures with my phone they are always fucking blurry, no matter how still I hold it...

I wouldn't call myself brave, stock is cock so chop or die! Got the roof spliced and set it up so I can get an idea of what it'll look like, hopefully I can get it tacked together tomorrow.

Chopping a top is a lot of fucking work apparently. For how many hours I have into it so far I probably could of scratch built a hardtail frame. Spent all day fitting, grinding, beating and welding, just need to weld a strip in the center and chop the doors down.

Finished welding the roof and pillars and started doing body work to straighten out the roof a bit. Turns out this truck once belonged to a man named George Peavy, he was the dean of Oregon State College (now Oregon State University) back in the day and then was the mayor of Corvallis. It's pretty cool to know that this cab has some history behind it. http://www.oregonencyclopedia.org/en..._w_1869_1951_/

I don't think it turned out too bad considering it's my first chop, also picked up a front end off a '50 F1 pickup today.Comment
