Thanks for the support guys. I don't have any illusions that it will be easy, but I'm pissed and when I'm pissed and focus my anger i can do any fucking thing. I used to smoke a pack and a half of newports a day, quit cold turkey 12 years ago, for martial arts. I'm not just quitting opiates because I'm tired of being hooked on bullshit meds that dont even work for me anymore. I'm quitting because I lost my best friend to a pill OD, I lost a good friend/street legend Brooce Williams to heroin OD, his body was found slumped on the sidewalk 3 blocks from my house, and I just lost another friend last month, blew his brains out in his livingroom on the day he was supposed to enter rehab for heroin, he had a 2 year old boy.
Oh, I'm also quitting afrin nosespray after using a bottle a week for 5 years. That shit is harder to quit than you could imagine, life is miserable when ur sinuses are swollen shut and you cant even eat your breakfast. Had to go to the ear/nose/throat dr and get a scrip for prednazone roids to reduce the swelling in my sinuses so I can breathe. It's just the icing on the cake right now. Oh, and I'm a year and a half clean off cocaine, my true drug of choice, couldn't quit till I ended up in the ICU from my whiskey fueled black out wreck, I saw the light, literally.
And to top it off some faggoty neckbeard trendy fuck hipsters just moved in next door this morning, fuckin jaggoffs!! These same dooshes would have been rockadoodles or emo fags 5 years ago.

Yesiree, you can get off that shit. And yes, the answer for your needs is a few daily doses of THC. I've been there and done that so those are my encouraging words.

It sounds like you have a strong will, your going to need it. It took me 5 weeks to get off of morphine and it was 5 weeks of HELL.
My doc fucked up by cutting the dosage down to fast. I think a 10% decrees a week is the way your suppose to do it.
Get your self LOTS of (candied ginger). It will help with the up set stomach and nausea. You should be able to find it in the bulk section of your food store. Chamomile tea also helps but it's not as good as the candied ginger

Candied ginger and granola, got it. I got all blazed lastnight and had apple granola with vanilla yogurt, stupid good
My dr also tried to cut me down way too much, so I just traded all my oxy for norcs to the hood rx, cuz im gangster like that. Just gonna take a half pill less each day, easy to follow program.

I'm brand spanking new to this forum, but I wanted to pipe in and offer my support. I have a friend that's been going through the same deal, so I kind of know the story.
I hate pills, myself and never been down the road of addiction to them. I did quit smoking many years ago and that sucked bad enough.
My hat's off to you for quitting. Good luck and stay strong.

88? Whatt pwer
Actually isn't the success rate much higher for people that taper off vs people that quit cold turkey. Let's not forget I broke myself in half about 17 months ago. I'm not trying to go thru full withdrawals and all my daily pain at the same time, I'm tough as fuck but not stupid. The hard part is gonna being staying clean when I know every street hookup around this town, been husslin here for 15 years. When I think of my 3 homies that lost their life to opiates in the last 4 years, it gives me the determination to stay off the dirty dragon.

Tyronin.....you can do this!! I've never been hooked on pills, but used to get black out drunk 4-5 nights a week! My wife is an RN, and actually read your post, and started telling me stories about "drug seekers" that come in to the hospital just fuckin tweaking!!! The worst was a young guy, 27 yrs old who fell off a roof and broke both his arms, 2years later, his girlfriend is cookin shit for hi, and helping him shoot it because "that's the only way he could feel it anymore" he had nothing, and he was stealing birthday card gift money from his 4 year old son. By chance I met the guy, and he's been 2 yrs clean, in fuckin great shape, and has a great job....he said rock bottom was mind numbing, was destroying his body, and claims he feels like he's 18 again. Hope this story helps ya...I know it opened my eyes! I've had several injuries in the last few years, and couldn't believe how easy drs like to hand this shit out!! Good luck takin your life back!

This is another thread I can oddly chime in on. I've been clean from every drug and no addictions except cigarettes. Got clean from Speed, Coke, Weed, Acid, Shrooms, Pills, and all other kinds of shit by the time I was 16, went cold turkey. Only drugs I never tried or had the urge to try were Heroin, Crack or PCP. I've had to use pain pills before (I've broken over 40 bones in my body, including multiple fractures in my skull when I was in a bad accident when I was 13), and at one point I got addicted to Norco and Soma cocktails, but I pout an end to that too. Now, at 32, I rarely drink, and I don't touch any drugs unless it's a prescribed medication and it's absolutely necessary.
So far, I take Ibuprofen for the occasional headache I get, but haven't touched anything, and I went cold turkey. Hell, I can be around all of it, and I won't even get an urge.

So replace a drug with a drug? Isn't that kind of counter productive? That's like replacing heroin with Oxycontin... Basically the same shit and just as addictive and just as deadly.
