There isn't a nut or bolt on my bike that I will go a year without checking... Locktite, cotter pin, safety wire... Whatever.

Again, not the nuts fault.

But at least we seem to agree on the whole god thing...

Yesterday was more or less a shakedown run of sorts. I took the bike for a 70mile cruise and noticed the washer on my front axle was moving!

Kinda funny because I always got an ear listening for problems on my bike but yesterday I especially was focused on my axle nut. Crazy.

you guys are scaring me with this shit and got me thinking. I'm drilling both my bikes and putting cotter pins on both. I don't have a DNA, but that Indian girder needs to have a pin in front, and I might safety wire the springer on the Sportster. How's that tutorial on Lowbrow, and how do I use this on the forks? I think I'd be better off pinning it.

pinned it. easy and I should've done it earlier. If you think about your axle falling off, it's well worth the 5 minutes it takes to do it.

I ran a dna springer for a year on my honda, put 7k miles on it and it never broke. I did have my axle nut come lose one day while riding, looked down at the front and saw the axle nut rotating off pulled over immediately and tightened the shit out of it. That would have been a shitty day. Took it off and traded that shit because I didn't like the quality and how it looked on the bike.

Had a dna on my fatboy. I thought it was all good.
Till this happened at 45 mph in the middle of traffic![IMG]Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos
Ps, i check my axle nuts religiously. Before and during every ride. I only had that pos springer for a few weeks. I literally checked my axle nuts 5 minutes before this happened as i was leaving work. I almost died! Luckily i was only doing 45 and not the usual 75.

I ride hard and fast. My bike only has two wheels and if the front end breaks I do believe I would be fucked.

If you can't afford a good quality springer, ride a glide. I am on a tight budget and still figured out a way to get a quality springer.
