I checked out the bike today. It was in pretty good shape. Just needs new bars and a re-wire. Will probably also re-do the brake lines, the rear ones for sure. But besides that it's pretty good to go I'm excited to get it up and running smoothly. Picking it up this week. Thank you guys for the advice.

Doing the fronts with stainless braided line drastically improves brake feel because the braid restrains the Teflon liner from expanding under hydraulic pressure.

78 Sporty $1450. claims it has a new top end. If I wasn't moving in 2 weeks I'd try to scrape up the cash.

Looks like it's got a bendix type intake. I'd bring a carb and see how the guy reacts when u want to slap it on. If it's got good paper it's a steal.

How can I test the carb if the timing is off? I was thinking of using starting fluid and seeing if I can get it to fire once

If it was closer I'd jump on that. I'd have to find a set of pan heads for it but hell S&S makes new ones, you could be rolling a 54 pan for under $6K!

I don't know that much about Harleys, but this seems like a pretty good deal.

I'm not real crazy about the seat tin, but that things got potential.

VIN boss looks altered. Might be correct numbers the DMV stamped on aftermarket cases. Not a bad pile of parts for the money though.
