Tried some leather burning for the first time with a basic soldering iron, turned out pretty cool I think. Im gonna get a better set up as it was a little awkward holding the soldering iron with a long tip and there are units with greater heat control.

What ya need is an "el cheepo" pencil gun....and 4 tips....chisel, angle chisel, half angle chisel, and pinpoint....you can even get a std tip and file em down to what ya need....and its forever....whereas a dye in lettering/design, will fade....sad its just one color....dark brow/black, lol....but thats how us old timers did it....we even had irons we'd heat in coals, and basically use it like a branding iron....personally, I think it looks more "retro" too....

hey hardluck, the "font" or lettering style you use for your logo, what is that called? i realize you're likely doing it free hand but i'd like to see a full example of that style. it looks really good cut into leather.

Yup, got a better set up, now with a heat control, multiple tips and ready to make some bigger pieces. Got it for $25 bucks, new. I like the dark on dark colors in this leather, I got a big hide for dirt cheap that's excellent quality as well as some lighter pieces to get a little more contrast.

I designed that so long ago, that I can't recall the font exactly. There are quite a few out there that are similar though. Try FONTSPACE.com
