i bought this bike from a friend for $500 about two years ago. i didn't know much about it,or british bikes(except watching them at hillclimb events)but i just Had to have it ! it came with a DNA springer but my friend wanted it. it also came with the factory front
I picked up the frame section from a local Triumph guy, hardtail came from david bird. still have the frame it came with. I would like to find another 500 motor and build another one, once this is done.
loops came from lowbrow Customs 18-19.
spokes came from Buchanan's. this picture is during the polishing process.
while the motor was out,i started cleaning and polishing it up a little. It has some nasty war wounds...i think it adds charactor. If i find another motor,it will go in this bike..the numbers on this motor match the frame it came with.
I powdercoated the hubs & trees myself.
I had the toughest time finding someone to lace these wheels. after a few tries i finally got them somewhat right, had to twist some arms to get them trued...what a pain! I also picked up a new Firestone 18x4.00.

wow what a piece of shit, you should send it to me and ill take one for the team. LOLOL honestly you got a bangin deal on this bike man! Its lookin great! i cant wait to see the finished product!
Have i got this str8 Your not useing the frame , motor wheels from the 500 buck bike , ur useing anouther frame motorect so the bike in pic 1 aint the bike your doing ???????
I'm using the motor in the new frame. The wheels it came with were rusty and had bent/missing spokes, relaced with stainless 19 and 18.. The tank will be used, along with the front forks.
I don't really like 16" rear wheels, white walls,or flat fenders that are full of holes.
I'd like to find another 500 motor (some day) and put it in the new frame, by then the old frame should be reworked and road worthy.
the best thing about a trump 500 is light weight and still fast s.o.b.s..this is evolved into the larger engines, think of it this way,,, why do you think they called them daytonas?these gave american riders fits on the flat tracks and big tracks ,, ,,,keep it up, love seeing MORE triumphs on the road,,around here i only see few,,, ,yeah,,, brit is the shit,,,gear it up and you,ll give em fits (18" rear/ /40 tooth rear sprocket ,21 tooth front)TALL gears for the road.rock on guy,,looking good and your lucky ,, a 500 for$ 500?where you hideing that four leaf clover?
Thanks for the positive feedback!
I haven't really done a whole lot since my last post...I'll update anyway
The alien tank grew on me..so Im going to run it on this bike. @tokes..If i stuck with the factory tank, I would have ran trackers or something low and aggressive. since I'm running the alien, i'll run apes or home made Z's.
I shaved off the factory tank mounts and drilled some 3/4" holes for bungs
Mounted with the same hardware as the oil tank(96 sportster tank grommets and spacers),i hope it will hold up.
I bent the spring on the tensioner so it wasn't crossing the hole, and welded a bung to the arm...Looks a little better,
and the inside,
I wasn't happy with the shape of the 7MW fender,so i reshaped it and started working on the mounts. Drilled and tapped axel plates,
