1250 Kit question.
Hey guys,
I've got a '98 sporty and I'm thinking about getting the Revolution Performance 1250 cc Bolt-On Big Bore Kit from Dennis Kirk. They list fitment back to 2004, which I know is first year of rubbermount, which I don't have.... so, I was wondering if there was actually anything different between 98 & 2004 fitment?
I don't want to get the cylinders and not be able to use them.
Any help would be appreciated...

i believe there is a difference. the rubber mount bikes have a motor mount that bolts on to the front cylinder, i think. that doesn't mean it won't fit, but there are some differences. have fun spending that 2nd place check! you're a lucky bastard.

you want a kit for an 03-earlier..
I cant tell you specifics on why theyre different, but I do remember reading a while back
I think on XL forum about guys putting kits for solid mount motors on their 04-up bikes and having oil consumption issues.

cylinders shouldn't be any difference, more than likely the piston skirts are clearanced for the oil squirters 04+ has. Look up nhrs performance, instead of that catalog stuff
actually just looked it up 04+ have bigger finsLast edited by mike1407; 12-03-2011 at 8:24 PM.

I would love to go through NRHS that was my original plan, but I got a free pass to Dennis Kirk and have to spend it there. I think that I'm gonna do what LivingCanvas suggested and call them to see if there is an unlisted version somewhere.

the cylinders will work fine, dennis kirk may be offering for 04 and later models because thats what they would sell the most of, rev performance has different options to match their pistons to the heads you are running.

Just to let everyone know.
Revolution got back to me, there will be no problem with fitment, and they are updating the Dennis Kirk website to reflect that.
dope....

On your profile it says you have a 1200. Are you putting that kit on a 1200? Or do you have an 883?

I have a 1200. Over the past year or so I have been picking up parts. I got SE dual plug heads, Crane Hi-4 Ignition, HSR42 carb, and a mild cam. The 1250 kit is the last part that I have been waiting for.... I can't wait.
