Is this seat a custom job? Does anyone make something similar?

That seat is on an xs650, was just a flat seat when it was on the stock frame, then modded when the rails were dropped. The guy who built the bike the first time, stitched it himself I believe.

The beauty about seats is that they change out in a few seconds. Get two seats, one for you and one for the two of yous.

Fredo nailed it right there. Set-up your bike how you are going to ride it most of the time, not occasionally. You will be much happier.
