Subscribed. Awesome work so far! I agree with you though, don't hack it up too much. I've been thinking about picking up an older FLH so the old lady can ride with. She's pissed after I solo'd my Sporty.. haha.

yea man thats pretty much the plan. I wanted to do something different from the usual hardtail/skinny fender/yada yada. Not that i dont like those builds, just wanted something new. Wanted a go anywhere anytime bike.
And i dont plan on doing anything that will make it hard to go back to original, shaving the sliders is probably the most extreme cuts anything original is ever gonna see on this...

That round swingarm will look waaay better. Is that strictley for drum brakes? I drilled a bunch of holes in my square arm to help make it look better.

I would loosen the lower tree pinch bolt and see if the tube moves up and down, it shouldn't! though it looks like it would with that gap. I know newer 41mm front ends use a washer under the top cap, between the cap and top tree, that could take up that gap. My 1980 FLH doesn't have a gap or a washer on the top. Build looking great by the way!!! Big fan of the FLH nacelle.

well ive been gettin some shit done, built my take on a horseshoe oil tank, and its not done yet, but i havent decided it it should stay or go. Im gonna notch the back for a battery/etc, and i wanted the lines on the rear of the frame follow it, anyway, lemme know what you guys think. I talked with a friend about how the down tube in the front could be parrallel with the tank, but the only thing wierd about that, i thought anyway, was that then the tank would kinda pull out and look really bulky....

this is how i mounted it. I solid mounted tanks before, but it was always a real huge pain to get em just right and overall i think rubbermount is better, especially cause this will have a battery in it. I used the lowbrow tabs, which arnt cheap but make it ppretty easy. Once i get my last bung in the mail im gonna add a third. Should be pretty solid i think. The first pic the tank looks off center cause i was holdin the camera all cockeyed, but trust me shit is square! haha

well other than getting my kick startter sorted my tranny is pretty much done. Only thing is, when i put the outboard bearing on, i have serious resistance on my mainshaft, like it takes alot of force to turn the sprocket. I know im in gear and draggin alot, but from before the outboard support was on till after, there is a big difference, any ideas?? this look right?
but the oil tank fits nice with it, plenty of room for the clutch release arm. Also found a nice small battery at batteries plus that should be enough. Gonna fab up a box and fit into the tank tomorrow.

Man, you do some nice work. Not everyone can do a full engine/trans rebuild AND do custom fabrication as well as you. Your on the road to greatness. Keep it up. I can't wait to see your bike all finished.

open up those bolt holes a hair and shit will fit much better. i drilled mine out from the 3/8in they come as to 1/2in and it fixed the resitance problem.
